Maybe you’ve been with your people a little too much lately? Or maybe you haven’t been able to see your people like you need to? Presence has been on everyone’s mind in different ways these days…
It’s hard to feel present with all the noise, isn’t it? The noise down the hall, the noise on the screen, the noise in our mind as it barrels into the future–it’s all important, it all has something to say, but boy can it get loud.
My prayer this week has been to stay in the moment. To consistently wonder how I can bring my presence back down to just this moment. This one right here. This messy moment that, if I’m honest, I’m probably trying to avoid. Worry, irritation, pain, and fear, they all get so, so loud– but, you know, these are just feelings. Just simple feelings in all their brutal complexity and maybe they just need a little compassion to quiet back down again?
Aren’t we all just aching for more presence? The sun on your face, the sound of your breath, the feel of the ground beneath your feet, they all remind us that this moment right before us is the only one we get to be in. The only one we need to be in. It’s the one we were made for.
It’s in the present that we get to feel the Presence of the One we’re all aching for.

This is a gift we’re given–to be able to give and receive grace right now. To give grace to our people, to ourselves, to this messy, beloved world. And in the giving, we receive abundant grace from the original Giver until there is no more need.
Learning to be in the present gives us a break from the noise and it gives the gift of what God really wants for us. Compassion. Joy. Healing. Grace. All the things I’m really looking for when I allow the noise to distract me.
Let’s try to hold on to just one moment at a time today. To grab hold of His presence in the present.
Thank you …. 🙂
