Overwhelmed?
Yeah, your newsfeed is probably filled with a little more than pictures of other people’s kids right now. Mine too. Scrolling down through story after story and they’re all showing us the same thing–things aren’t the way they used to be right now. And we’re all a little heartsick about it.
We’re all swimming around together in a lot of change and new information. And there’s always just one more thing to think about. One more thing to worry about. What’s going to happen in a few months? What will it all even look like?
Thoughts can be funny things. The worry-ones come in fast, tumbling on top of one another and before you know it they’re all tangled up and out of control. We’ve already lived out three or four different futures before the kids even get up for breakfast.
Cognitive overload. Stress. That tight feeling in your shoulders that sinks right down into your gut. Too much is too much and aren’t we all just a little exhausted right now?
Today, just for today, let’s let another thought come crashing in.
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13.

Help. A solid hand gripping our sweaty palms and reminding us to breathe in deep. Let it fall in slow and easy today, like old truth reigning in a new storm.
Thank you for the invite. This is beautiful, heartfelt, and meaningful. I especially loved “On Listening”.
